Day of Discovery
at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab

Buffeted by Hurricanes Isidore and Lili in the Fall of 2002, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab was forced to cancel its annual Open House, known as “Discovery Day,” to the disappointment of many.

But on April 5, 2003, from 10am to 2pm, this fun-filled and family-oriented event will be back, better than ever. With free kids’ activities and tours of the research facilities, Discovery Day promises to be an exciting, educational event.

Booths with a variety of free kids’ activities will offer so much fun to your little ones, they’ll never realize that they’re learning about the environment at the same time.

*Scientists will open their research laboratories to the public (this is the only time during the year that they do so), and will be available to answer your questions about marine biology.

* The Estuarium will offer reduced admission and raffle a $100 gift certificate to its fabulous Gift Shop, filled with marine-theme items that appeal to all ages.

* The WABB Boombox will be on-site, playing your family’s favorite tunes.

*Our corporate sponsor, ExxonMobil, will be on hand with an educational display and free giveaways.

*Much, much more!

As a wonderful bonus, Discovery Day at the Sea Lab will be held on the same weekend as the Dauphin Island Spring Arts Festival. You’ll be able to make it a full, fun and satisfying day on the Island.
