Research Experience for
Undergraduates
For the ninth year in a row, the Sea Lab is conducting a
National Science Foundation-funded program called Research
Experience for Undergraduates (REU). Over 70 applications
came in for seven available positions for this competitive,
twelve-week program. The participants will attend a
two-week course on professional skills, data proficiency and
other related disciplines taught by University of Mobile
Biology Professor Dr. Tina Miller-Way. The rest of their
time will be spent working with Sea Lab faculty mentors and
designing and conducting a field projects of their own. The
mission of the REU program is to expose the students to the
rigors of marine science, as well as to help them develop
skills to use in their own graduate or career paths.
