Sea Lab Featured on National TV

The Sea Lab has hit the airwaves with a number of national and state television appearances.  This summer the DISL was featured on Turner South's "3-Day Weekend," that network's number one rated show. The Estuarium figured prominently as a "Destination Showcase" on "Outdoor Alabama," which is sponsored by the Alabama Department of Conservation and National Resources.

Two Sea Lab scientists and their research were also featured on separate National Geographic specials.  Dr. Rich Aronson and his research on coral reef ecology in Jamaica appeared on "Strange Days on Planet Earth," a four-part series on global change.  Dr. Aronson's 30 years of research in Discovery Bay, Jamaica examines how coral reefs are at risk from global warming, marine diseases, agricultural and urban development, and overfishing.

Another National Geographic special, "Swarms," highlighted Dr. Monty Graham and his expertise on jellyfish behavior.  "Jellyfish perform this somewhat complex swarming behavior without benefit of having a brain, but using cues from light, gravity and other directional sensing."
