Discovery Day - Saturday,
April 1, 10am to 2pm
So
much fun, you'll never guess you're learning so much
science!
We were swamped at last year’s Discovery Day – literally.
The event was cancelled due to an incessant downpour of rain
that made the island similar to a sponge.
We’re crossing our fingers this year as we unveil a new raft
of exhibits, crafts and games for the whole family. From
marine crafts for all kids to research displays in Marine
Science Hall, the day will be filled with engaging
activities and opportunities to learn first-hand about our
waters.
This year we’ll be introducing the Ocean Games, fun
activities based on the report results of the US Commission
on Ocean Policy and the Pew Oceans Commission.
For those students who have always pondered a career in
marine science, this is the only time during the year that
the Sea Lab opens its doors to our research facility. Our
scientists will be on hand to answer questions about their
work and what’s on your mind about our waters.
The little ones will be able to create and take home an
engaging variety of marine crafts, from fish prints to shell
necklaces to pitcher plant games. Home Depot will be here to
conduct an environmental workshop.
The Estuarium will feature reduced admission, 15% off in the
Gift Shop and two drawings for $50 Gift Certificates to our
wonderful store.
