What's New at the Estuarium?

The Pavilion on the Living Marsh Boardwalk

Or maybe we should ask, “What’s newly restored?” The Living Marsh Boardwalk, having been destroyed by Hurricane Ivan, is having its finishing touches placed and will be open to the public in early March. Refurbishment will continue as we replace the Fish Plaques that were swept out to sea by the storms of 2005. (To order your fish plaque, visit http://estuarium.disl.org/estuarium1.html

The Estuarium’s largest tank, the Gulf of Mexico tank, is also getting a facelift, with new paint, polished acrylic and new displays, including a joystick-controlled Remote Operated Vehicle which will allow visitors a glimpse at how deep sea research is conducted. Work is expected to finish by Discovery Day, April 1.
