New Sponge-Dwelling Snapping Shrimp Named after Sea Lab Scientist

Although many of our scientists are honored with an array of nominations, awards and important posts, having a snapping shrimp named after one is a rare honor indeed. Former DISL student and current professor J. Emmet Duffy (Virginia Institute of Marine Science) has named new species of snapping shrimp found in Carrie Bow Cay, Belize after Marine Scientist Mike Dardeau. For more information on these critters, visit http://www.mapress.com and find issue 1602 in the 2007 archives.
