DISL Educator Greg Graeber Honored

DISL Marine Educator and Jackson, Mississippi native Greg Graeber is being honored by the University of South Alabama as the Secondary Graduate Student of the Year.

Greg, a former college student at the DISL, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology from Auburn University and is currently finishing his Alternative Masters in Secondary Science Education.  He is finishing his student teaching at Daphne High School.

He has been an active participant with the Alabama Science Teachers Association; the National Science Teachers Association; the Southern Association of Marine Educators; the National Marine Educators Association; and the North American Association of Environmental Educators.

Greg's wife, Mendel, is also an educator at the DISL, and the two of them enjoy sharing the delights of the ocean with their son Owen. "I plan to live on Dauphin Island and teach at the DISL for the foreseeable future," he states. "There are few things better than raising Owen at the beach and getting paid to work here, too!"
